What Does ChatGPT Know About Me? 🤖

The other day, I had a fun (and slightly unsettling) thought — how much does ChatGPT actually know about me? So, like any curious software engineer, I logged out of my ChatGPT app and I asked it:

What do you know about Prudhvik Chirunomula?🧐

And boom! The response was almost accurate. It knew where I worked, what I studied, and even my love for anime and comic book universes. Even my mom doesn’t know this much about my career! 😂

Have a look at the following screenshot** of the chat.

But should I be worried? Should you? Let’s break it down.

AI: The Nosy Neighbor or Just a Smart Librarian?

To be clear, ChatGPT didn’t “hack” into my life. It just did what any well-trained AI does — it pulled together information that’s already publicly available on the internet.

It found my professional background, my tech expertise, and even my nerdy side (Naruto, Marvel, DC — you name it!). In other words, it’s not some cyber detective spying on me. It’s just Google on steroids. 💪

And honestly, I was kinda proud of what it showed! My career, my skills, my contributions to the tech world — it’s all out there, and it’s a good representation of who I am.

And yes, ChatGPT can make mistakes! 🤖❌

Like, it confidently says, “Prudhvik has a YouTube channel where he shares content related to his interests.” But as of February 8, 2025, that’s completely false! 😆 I don’t have a YouTube channel (yet), though I do have some old-school playlists I created back in 2018 — before YouTube Music was even a thing! 🎶🔥 Since then, I’ve never really updated them, but hey, they still exist, gathering digital dust. 😂

But Wait… What About My Digital Footprint? 👣

While I’m cool with what AI knows about me, not everyone might feel the same way. Imagine if you suddenly found out ChatGPT summarized you as:

“A person who once fought in YouTube comments about whether Andhra or Telangana biryani is better.” 🍛🔥😂***

Not exactly the legacy you were aiming for, huh? 😅

That’s the thing — AI can only reflect what we put out into the world. So if you’ve ever wondered what your digital footprint looks like, here’s a quick reality check:

Google yourself — See what comes up. If it’s just your LinkedIn profile, great. If it’s your embarrassing Facebook posts from 2010… well, time to do some damage control.
Check your privacy settings — Most platforms let you control what’s public and what’s private. Use them wisely!
Think before you post — Future you might not appreciate that rant about bad code you posted at 3 AM. 😂
Own your narrative — Want to be known for your tech skills? Your art? Your business? Then create content that tells that story.

Final Thoughts: AI is a Mirror, Not a Fortune Teller🪞

Instead of fearing AI, let’s use it as a tool to understand how we’re represented online. For me, it was a cool experience — I’ve spent years building my career and interests, and AI simply reflected that back to me.

But this also means we’re in control of our own online identity. If ChatGPT can summarize your life in a few sentences, make sure it’s a summary you’d be proud of. 😎

At the end of the day, the real question isn’t “What does ChatGPT know about me?” but “What have I told the internet about myself?”

So, go ahead — Google yourself. Just… don’t blame me if you find your old Orkut/Facebook posts, yes! we 90’s kids know what they are!!🤭.

(***) If anyone’s curious about my take — Hyderabad’s Dum Biryani is the GOAT! 🏆🍛 But hey, biryani comes in many flavors, and trust me, once you try them all, you’ll realize every single one is a masterpiece. 🤤🔥
